DAY 1
Morning arrival to the Zagreb airport. Visit to the local green market Dolac getting familiar with local food, vegetables, fruits, cheese and spices, shopping for tailor-made lunch/brunch. Lunch in the small restaurant next to the market with wine tasting, cooking lesson with famous local chef. Afternoon sightseeing of Zagreb, visit to the best coffee place in Zagreb (short story about coffee; trying different types of coffees) and ‘Bakina kuca’ (Grandma’s house) or ‘Truffle place’ – tasting local delicacies, walk around the old town visiting main sights. Transfer to Zagorje. Accommodation in 4* hotel. Five course dinner with wine tasting in the hotel
DAY 2
Breakfast on the terrace. Hrvatsko Zagorje is one of the most beautiful landscapes of Croatia, stretching northwards of Zagreb. Visit to the museum and famous medieval castle of North Croatia – Trakoscan. Visit to the gallery, walk around the castle. The castle itself is located on a small hill overlooking the large park and the forest area. Sightseeing of the castle. Cooking show – grill and ‘kotlovina’ (local dish) lunch in the garden of the castle with local wine tasting – possibility of some sports (horseback riding) or fencing lessons (how to open a sparkling wine bottle). Mushroom picking (seasonal). We climb to mount Medvednica overlooking Zagreb for medieval dinner and wine tasting programm in the small restaurant inside the castle. Late transfer back to the hotel.
DAY 3
Breakfast with morning coffee. Visit to Kumrovec with introductory history lesson – ‘Tito’s legacy’, eco village. Quad ride (optional) in beautiful countryside. Lunch in the agro turism with home made specialties, visit to a small safari. Wine tasting of desert wines from one of the best winemakers in Croatia (awarded at Decanter World Wine Award). Culinary competition with Zagorje Knight – Strukle (typical pastry of northern Croatia). Light dinner, lesson in wine tasting.
DAY 4
Breakfast in Zagorje on the terrace. Morning walk or yoga lesson (optional). Croatian interpretation of a Japanese brunch with a glass of Croatian sparkling wine. Transfer to the airport for departure.
